Boutique fitness, urgent care, and quick serve restaurants top our list as the hottest categories in retail right now. The demand for a unique fitness experience by consumers continues to grow as noted in a recent WSJ article titled “The 500 a month Workout Habit”. Our client, Elevate Interval Fitness opened in the 14th street corridor just a year ago and now have waiting lists for many of their classes. Another client Spark Yoga has similar demand for their yoga classes and added another location at Mosaic District to meet demand. Health care is going retail as health systems improve costs by pushing patients from hospital to outpatient care, emphasizing preventative measures and using technology to better coordinate care. Patients are responding positively as they like same day care with flexible hours and accessible locations. Medstar has produced strong financial results after opening 250 plus outpatient centers over the past several years. Our client Metro Immediate Care opened a new D.C. location after many patients were asking for a center closer to work. Metro Immediate Care was quickly bought by GW Medical who is ambitiously adding additional retail locations. The DC area has been named as one of the best growth markets for quick serve restaurants for several years. Multiple brands such as Sweet Green, Shop House, &Pizza, Roti, Burger 21, Elevation Burger, and Cava are battling it out for the best spaces and are willing to pay top dollar for such locations. What do you think will be the next trend in retail? Drop us a line! We would love to hear from you.
