Local Restaurant Expands Presence Along U Street Corridor –  Capital Retail Group announced today the ownership group of Tabaq Bistro, Bistro Labonne, Soussi,  and Utopia  signed two more leases in the heart of the U Street Corridor at 1334 U Street.  Omer Buyukbayrak and his partners will be occupying the entire building opening Touchdown, a 2,200 square foot sports bar on the upper two levels and the Codmother, a London styled fish and chips restaurant on the lower level.  According to Omer Buyukbayrak “Touchdown will be a classic sports bar prominently displaying 15 high definition TV’s opening in the next few days and Codmother soon afterwards.”  Tolga Erbatur, Chef and Partner says “Touchdown will serve high quality comfort foods including burgers, chicken wings, and oven roasted ribs. He goes on to say “The Codmother will be a true Chippie, with the fish being fresh, the batter crispy, and the fries cooked just right.” According to Robert Tack, CEO of Capital Retail Group, “The arrival of Touchdown bar and The Codmother at 1334 U Street NW fits the commitment ownership has made to deliver a quality food and drink establishment to the public. Tack says “We vetted several restaurant and pub owners and believe Omer and his partner’s newest concepts are best suited for success because of their knowledge of the U street market, impeccable commitment to service, and fantastic quality food offerings.”

Omer and his team have operated successful restaurants in the District for the past 20 years and currently own four locations along U Street including Tabaq Bistro directly adjacent to their newest concept at 1334 U Street. The building, which Capital Retail Group is responsible for leasing and managing, was previously leased to long time tenant Neema café. “This building is at the heart of the U Street corridor which is becoming a magnet attracting strong restaurant operators” states Robert Tack, CEO of Capital Retail Group. He goes on to say “DC residents and visitors have more variety of places to eat than at any other time in DC history, thanks in part to the resurgence of the U Street restaurant scene.”
